ASA
American Speed Association - This organization has Late Model racing, Trucks, and Modifieds. Mark Martin, Adam Petty, and many others have raced this low cost, highly competitive series.
ARCA
Automobile Racing Club of America - This long standing stock car series has divisions for Late Models, Trucks, and many others. Considered by many to be closer to the roots of stock car racing than NASCAR, this series has a loyal following and runs many of the same tracks as NASCAR. Less money involved makes this an interesting series with great creativity and displays of driving skill.
USAC
United States Auto Club - This is currently the premier organization for open wheel sprint and midget racing. Check their site for Silver Crown racing info. They also have links to associated series such as Quarter Midgets, US Rally, and others. USAC has been around for 50 years.
IMCA
International Motor Contest Association - Billed as America's oldest grassroots Auto Racing sanctioning body. IMCA was founded in 1915 and has modifieds, as well as other exciting divisions. They use the much debated "claimer" rule to control costs.
WoO
World of Outlaws - Big wing, big horsepower, dirt slinging, racing action. Nuff said.
IRL
Indy Racing League - Home series of the fabled Indy 500.
Trans-Am
Founded in 1966, Trans Am has a rich history of muscle car wars. This is an exciting sedan road racing series.
NHRA
National Hot Rod Association - The big leagues of drag racing. Not necessarily the best drag racing, that still happens at abandoned airports and deserted roads without sponsor decals, but definitely the big league that guys aspire to.
SCCA
Sports Car Club of America - This is the place for aspiring drivers. The SCCA has divisions for sedans, stock cars, SOLO racing, Rally, even Legends cars. There's no cheaper way to get involved in road racing. You can join and bring your whole family to the track. Opportunities exist for flaggers, course workers, tech positions, etc.
